A war time film without the intrusion of war, allowing us to flavour an exciting bus ride, with a damsel in distress, jilted and pregnant, who seeks out the help of a travelling salesman, lovingly played by Aldo Fabrizi, one of Italy's greats. Our damsel fair persuades our anti-hero to double as her husband and accompany her to the family farm house. Intrigue and humour a la Italiana. Heaps of family suspicion and threats, which ends well for the young maiden in need of practical help and support from the most unlikely of human beings.
A work of art which comes from the heart and will set your heart alight, for its sensitive and heart rendering display of the human person at its best. Pour on the sentiment and an extra portion of compassion, per favore. Grazie Aldo.
